1. CORPORATE TRAINING
From experience, organizations who keyed into this training acquire immediate improvement of not less than 50% in the efficiency of their staff. Dr Nick Drydakis, lead researcher in the study conducted at Anglia Ruskin University said common psychological theories support the notion that those individuals who are fulfilled at home would be more successful at work. “Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Theory claims that the happier and more fulfilled individuals are in their lives, the more productive and successful they will be in their work, translating to higher profits and of course, wages.” Drydakis added that the theory concludes that people need to love and be loved, sexually and non-sexually by others and if these affections are absent, people may become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety and depression – all of which he says are factors that can affect their working life. What this means is that, if members of staff are unhappy, anxious, stressed and facing emotional problem, they will not be able to perform well on their jobs.
Their productivity and performance will reduce drastically. In addition, their interpersonal relations both at home and on the job may suffer more. The success of institutions, industries or any work sector is therefore greatly influenced by the emotional stability of its staff.
2. TRAINING FOR CHURCH COUNSELORS
We organize periodic training for Churches who wish to apply for Pastoral counseling professionally. The importance of getting it right in the area of counseling as a crucial tool which the church requires to correct the ills in the society cannot be overemphasized, and applying the proper professional skills and counseling ethics to Pastoral Counseling is not contestable. The essence of this training is to orientate and brief participants about the need to incorporate professional pastoral counseling into church activities and ensures that a given number of church heads/workers possess the basic skill of counseling.
Counseling the right way will:

- Ensures that members don’t seek for wrong counsel outside the church.

3. TRAINING FOR SCHOOL COUNSELORS
School counselors possess proficient skills in development, leadership, collaborative practices, as well as appropriate referral procedures but practical ways to meet these skills are lacking as traditional training models are not keeping up with the needs of today’s school counselors. This training provides the needed professionalism and practicality of school counselors.
School counselors function in a variety of roles to support students’ academic, career, and personal/social development. In addition, they work in complex educational systems, have large case loads, and manage school counseling programs.
Within the field of counseling, school counselors face a unique challenge, for they are certified by educational agencies but are trained in the field of mental health, therapy and psychotherapy. Integrating this training in a school setting plus maintaining a counseling identity while meeting educational objectives can result in confusion for school counselors…Institute of Counseling holds the solution to the challenge being faced by school counselors.
The Institute of Counseling trains guidance and counseling teachers and other school counselors. Up to date information and newly discovered theories and skills in the field of counseling are passed unto school teachers.
4. TESSAP- TEEN SUBSTANCE & SEXUAL ABUSE AWARENESS PROGRAM
TESSAP is aimed to reach out to teen between the age group of 13-18 years i.e. mostly senior secondary school students. This age group has been targeted as various studies, and have found the 13-18 years age group to be the most vulnerable to sexual and substance abuse.
The Program, which is a major communication initiative in Lagos on Teen Substances and Sexual Abuse Awareness, aims to reach over 500 schools and 500 thousand teen over the next few years. It was launched in September 2015 by the above named organizations.
Teen sexual abuse is a public health problem of epidemic proportions and an alarming and serious concern for both the social work and the medical fields. More than two decades of research has linked teen sexual abuse to increased rates of pregnancy, promiscuity, low self-esteem, obesity, anxiety, depression, anger and aggression, post-traumatic stress, dissociation, sexual difficulties, sexually transmitted diseases, self-injurious behaviors, substance abuse and so on. Victims of teen sexual abuse experience myriad physical and mental health problems, often persisting through adulthood. For all these reasons, it is necessary for concerns bodies to galvanize and prevent it.
TESSAP segment on sexual abuse, will not just cover discussion on some prominent topics (such as HIV/AIDS, abortion/adoption, sexual orientation, gender equity) but also, major focus on sexual health topics that affect all kids such as puberty, relationships, contraception (including abstinence), sexually transmitted infections, social influences and other basic issues.
5. SUMMER TEENAGE LEADERSHIP TRAINING (TEENLET)
The Summer Teenage Leadership Training (STLT) program is designed to challenge and empower the teens with new and increased responsibilities, while allowing them the security of doing so in a place they know and love.
The STLT experience will assist the teen to form quality leader relationships as an expression of their developing identity as teenagers. The STLT member must allow themselves to be known while getting to know others.
Every summer, between July and September, Institute of Counseling organizes training for kids and teenagers between the ages of 10 to 19.
